Simply excellent

Mr. McHugh does not disappoint... again.

I am not a big fan of long series. Usually, any that has more than 3 books in it gets a bit boring with 4th and utterly boring with 5th. I suppose it is related to stream of ideas that dries up with time. Hellequin Chronicles is at 6th book and it gets only more interesting. However! Should you skipped any of the first five tomes you will hardly be able to follow the plot.

The story being unraveled follows the plot from previous parts of the series - no surprise in this fact, eh? What is really worthwhile is that Steve McHugh has managed to tie some loose ends in the way the suggests they were not the ends at all. I was positively surprised with old friends and foes coming back, though, their role in the Hellequin life appeared not as clear and well defined as I previously thought them to be. The world in Hellequin Chronicles were seldomly black and white. With every and each new installment it only is only more and more grey, which I personally love. No straight answers are given, no choices are obvious when the story meanders.

I am fully aware that this review is poor. However, I cannot think of a way to write it in a way that would not spoil the enormous fun of reading for every person that decides to buy this book.

Ahhhh....that hit the spot.

Seems like I've been waiting for this sequel for ages. Blew through it in one night. Waaay too fast. Before I start the second reading, I wanted to get a review out. Frankly, I have no criticisms or recommendations. Please keep writing this series as you have been doing in the past. Vastly entertaining. True classics. Head and shoulders above the other fantasy series spewing forth from Amazon. LOVE IT!!! And now, a quick nap...and a re-read.

I've always pre-ordered The Hellequin Chronicles Books because it's a great story with a cool twist on mythology.

With the penultimate book in the series all I can say is, "Buy the book! There's great character development and progression in this one."

Ok, I'm too excited about the happenings in this book so I'm going straight to SPOILERS ALERT! DO NOT READ BEYOND THIS IF YOU DON"T WANT SPOILERS.

Holy s***ballz! Nate and Mordred! It's also about time they had more back story on the dwarves and what happened to them.

I like the little nuances in Nate and Mordred's relationship after finding out what happened to Mordred but I still don't fully trust Mordred. It will be interesting to see how Steve has those two working together even though Mordred thinks he has to kill Nate and Nate doesn't completely hate him.

Can't wait for the last book to come out and I'm glad this isn't the end of Nate.

Astrology meets ontology

This book will not make sense to a person who has not studied quite a bit of ontological/metaphysical information and does not have a solid base in astrology. If you have all these things then this book will unfold and connect the dots in ways you cannot imagine. Astrology took on a whole new meaning for me after reading this book. I am thoroughly impressed. Brilliant and rare.

Where do YOU stand?

Imagine, if you will, a modern chemistry course taught by Dante Aligheri, the author of The Divine Comedy, a course in which we might learn what it feels like to be an iron atom chained, as though with leg irons, to nearby atoms by ionic forces in a crystal. Now imagine a history course taught by Pythagoras, the Greek geometer, a course, perhaps, on a previously unknown geometry of statecraft. Finally, suppose that these and other courses are merely offered as preparatory to entrance into a real-life version of the Sarastro's priestly academy in Mozart's Magic Flute.

Collin's Theory of Celestial Influence is clearly meant to be read in this spirit.

No doubt, specialists in chemistry and history would as likely be horrified as entranced by this prospect. Not having a PhD in chemistry, Dante would almost certainly get some of the details, and maybe some of the important ones, wrong. Other specialists, their worldview, not to mention livelihood, threatened, would dismiss such a poetic approach as mere superstition.

But the real strength of the present work is that Collin has anticipated all of this. Collin's response (with his italics) to such people is found on page 333:

If you wish to bring clarity and meaning to your search then sit and read this thought as well as emotion provoking book. Connects your existence with the universe in a way which creates wonder, awe, meaning, and if you are lucky, purpose. Definitely a tool which enables one to get a different sense of one's self as it did for me. If you also had the same experience, I would love to hear from you. Be advised though, the book and it's content is "not for everybody".

Great BooK!

This was a text used in class, and while the teacher did mostly lecturing without the text, it was a great resource-easy to understand, and highly applicable. THe text does a great job of really explaining the material in a clear and concise manner.

pleasantly surprised

I bought this for an International Marketing course which actually required the 6th edition. Instead of paying $90+ for the newer version, I paid about ten dollars. The page numbers are different from the new version but the content is almost exactly the same. Most of the case studies in this book are the same as in the new version, but there are two are three in the 6th edition that aren't in this edition. I haven't had any troubles using this edition in place of the newer one. The book arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Glad I saved a ton of money without sacrificing quality or content.

Rebecca Kirby, DVM, DACVIM, DACVECC

Rebecca Kirby is a charter Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care and started the first residency-training program in that specialty. Her articles, textbooks, and clinical research have advanced the veterinary profession and inspired students. She has lectured in over 24 countries and won recognition as Speaker of the Year at the North American Veterinary Conference. Her awards include 2001 Veterinarian of the Year by the AAHA, 2003 Ira Zaslow Distinguished Service Award from the VECCS, and 2005 Hills Award for Excellence in Veterinary Medicine awarded by the WSVA. She is also a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Elke Rudloff, DVM, DACVECC

Elke Rudloff is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. She has trained 25 ACVECC Diplomates and is currently a clinical instructor at the Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists in Wisconsin. She serves as the IVECCS Program Coordinator. She is the 2008 recipient of the Ira Zaslow Award for distinguished service in the field of veterinary emergency and critical care and is an internationally recognized educator in the field of veterinary emergency and critical care. Her special interests include fluid resuscitation, emergency surgery, and trauma management, topics on which she has published in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters.

Andrew Linklater, DVM, DACVECC

Originally from Canada, Andrew Linklater moved to the US to pursue advanced veterinary training; he is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. He has been actively involved in mentoring critical care interns and residents for over a decade and works at Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists in Wisconsin, where he oversees the management of critically ill and injured patients and performs advanced diagnostics and therapeutics. He is well-published in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks in the field of critical care and continues to lecture nationally and internationally.

She is also co-author of LABOR PAINS: MODERN MIDWIVES AND HOME BIRTH (Yale University Press, 1988) and co-editor of THE POLITICS OF WOMEN'S BODIES: APPEARANCE, SEXUALITY, AND BEHAVIOR (published by Oxford University Press and now in its fourth edition). Professor Weitz has won two major teaching awards at Arizona State University, as well as the Pacific Sociological Associations' Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award, and has been a finalist for other teaching awards numerous times.

Great book about medical sociology

I bought htis book for my medical sociology course. I really like it and I decided not to sell the book at the end of the semester. It's a medium sized book, not too heavy and big. I like the topics presented in this book and how they affect society's health as a whole. The book also make me think about things that I don't think are even a problem. For instance, the medicalization of childbirth or assisted reproduction.

Wow. I rented this book because it is required for the sociology class I'm taking this semester and I must say, there are many grammatical/spelling errors in this book! I wonder if she got this book peer reviewed? Was it read by an editor? Shocking! Otherwise, it's easy to understand, so that's a plus.

Clear and concise information. I ordered this for school, and was discovered I actually liked my book. If you are interested in the social aspects of health care.. buy it!
