One of the Best Crochet Books!

MANDALAS TO CROCHET: 30 GREAT PATTERNS is one of the best books in my extensive library of crochet books. I learned two techniques from this book--how to join rounds with a needle and how to create a magic ring--and have used them a number of times. The explanations and illustrations in this book are very clear and quite helpful, and the beautiful mandala patterns are inspiring. I do wish that more craft books came with a spiral binding.

The book is very good step by step instructions

I Got this book for my grandma to keep her brain functioning as she is getting older she loves to crochet and is always looking for new patterns. The book is very good step by step instructions, it has amazing color picture, the only downside to it is the packaging need a little of work. It came wrapped in a cardboard not fully cover and while i am pro minimal waist and environment friendly ways i think this might it to be cover in plastic, because when i received it, was pouring rain some of the pages got wet. If i had not notice that the mail man drop by and when to retrieved it, i think it would gotten damaged completely.

What took you so long?

OMG! This is so great - and I haven't even started crocheting! Not just great patterns and ideas and projects - but detailed diagrams and specific "fixes" and troubleshooting when you get those weird ripples and cupping on your round projects.

The only bad thing I have to say about this book is that I am sadly disappointed that it wasn't around 20 years ago when I crocheted that huge rag rug that never did lay flat... *sigh*

George Hawkins Pember was a comtemparary of Robert Govett, G. H. Lang, and D.M. Panton, and shared many of the same unique hermeneutic principles which categorized them into a 'set' by themselves. They were vastly ahead of their time and produced teachings which perplexed many and blessed others. It is the latter group that feels deeply indebted to Mr. Pember and his colleagues for heavenly instruction.

The value of his insights, and their applicability to succeeding generations is evident through the work for which Pember is best known, EARTH'S EARLIEST AGES (Kregel Pub. Co.). Originally published in 1876, it remains in print and has survived three previous publishers.

The Gentiles, The Jews, and The Church of God (Vol. 1), the first of his prophetic series was later expanded into three additional volumes. These include, The Great prophecies of the Centuries concerning Israel and the Gentiles (Vol. 2); The Church, The Churches, and The Mysteries (Vol. 3), and; The Great Prophecies of the Centuries Concerning The Church (Vol. 4).

About the Author
Pember matriculated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, in 1856; took the B.A. in 1860, being placed in the Second Class Classical Tripos; and his M.A. in 1863. He died July 5th, 1910, at the age of seventy-three. Though he studied the classics in his unconverted days for his own glory, after his conversion he sought to use the knowledge he had gained for the good of God's Church.

Best Book on Revelations

This book is one of the best I've purchased over the years. His scholarly approach to biblical prophecy is in a class all by itself. The only other book that even comes close is "Revelations Verse by Verse" by William Newell. Pember's book emphasizes that Revelations should not be a mystery, but a true revelation of what is to come and documents the background from the Old testament that make things clear and concise.

"JUSTICE NOT VENGEANCE"

Simon Wiesenthal had a desk that never ceased to have an impossible stack of papers upon it. He is known for all of the Nazi murderers and other terrorists he tracked down, but we don't know the number of all of the murderers who were never apprehended. I am sure the number is staggering and probably the papers on his desk do not have a complete list of the perpetrators.

What's amazing to me is how people would help these thugs escape. After the war, it became clear, largely from Simon Wiesenthal's work, that people from inside the Vatican helped Nazi's escape and settle mostly in South America, mostly in impossible outposts like Uruguay or Paraguay-OOOOOO.

The Nazi's had a game they loved to play inside the walls of the concentration camps. It was a camp rule that inmates would be shot if they tried to climb the electrified fence. Some days they would charge the prisoners to touch the fence or otherwise they'd be shot. You were proverbially damned if you did and damned if you didn't and of course dead in the end. The strangest thing to me, but not too surprising, is how so many of the Nazi camp commandants were nice people, good church going people who would never do the things they were purported to do. It's all so incomprehensible to me, but the stories Simon Wiesenthal tells have been corroborated by many others. PLEASE READ.

One who found evil and sought to right it,
Knew of Justice and tried to attain it.
Had a conscience and felt morally compelled to follow it.

Unlike many who succeeded him, adopting titled positions of Nazi Hunter, Simon's conscience wasn't bought, paid for, or enhanced by a government pay check.

Albeit he frequently lamented the loss of his original profession, that of architect, he became an architect of moral conscience in the post-World War 2 era.

Reserve for praise and admiration those uncompensated who did the right thing based solely upon conscience, rather than those who in actuality did the right thing for sake of and in exchange for a pay check, who later sought and laid claim to public recognition for having acted upon conscience.

About the Author

Elayn Martin-Gay has taught mathematics at the University of New Orleans for more than 25 years. Her numerous teaching awards include the local University Alumni Association’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, and Outstanding Developmental Educator at University of New Orleans, presented by the Louisiana Association of Developmental Educators.

 

Prior to writing textbooks, Elayn Martin-Gay developed an acclaimed series of lecture videos to support developmental mathematics students. These highly successful videos originally served as the foundation materials for her texts. Today, the videos are specific to each book in her series. She has also created Chapter Test Prep Videos to help students during their most “teachable moment”–as they prepare for a test–along with Instructor-to-Instructor videos that provide teaching tips, hints, and suggestions for every developmental mathematics course, including basic mathematics, prealgebra, beginning algebra, and intermediate algebra.

 

Elayn is the author of 12 published textbooks and numerous multimedia interactive products, all specializing in developmental mathematics courses. Great Book! You will enjoy math!

This book was so helpful. There were some material my professor didn't have the time to go over so I watched the videos are from the author herself, and she makes the concepts crystal clear! I would highly recommend this book to anyone starting college who has a fear of math. This helps! Also ensure you know the material before moving on to a next chapter because everything is progressive. If you don't get the concept of one it will affect the others. Worth the money!
